Musical Acts appearing at Godstock:
Austin is the “Live Music Capital of the World,” so it should not be surprising that we have access to some great Catholic bands. This year’s line up at Godstock includes some returning bands and as well as some new bands. All of the bands will have merchandise available after their performance for anyone interested in purchasing it. Please support our local Catholic talent!
If you would like to know more about the bands, visit their websites. We hope to have some samples of their music up on the site soon.
Soundwave
www.soundwave.cc
Sound Wave (The definition) - a longitudinal wave in an elastic medium, esp. a wave producing an audible sensation.
SOUNDWAVE (The band) - We produce this audible sensation each and every time we are on stage. It's a mixture of alternative rock, a positive message and the leading of all to the power of the truth.
SOUNDWAVE started nearly 6 years ago in the small town of Lockhart, Texas. We have played at coffee shops, festivals, clubs and churches for various events all over Texas.
SOUNDWAVE’s vision is to bring the presence of God with our message of Hope and Truth to this generation. There is so much negativity in the world lyrically that people are being fed a counterfeit truth, so we want to encourage them to live life to the fullest and seek the true meaning and purpose they were designed for.
The Sound of Substance
www.thesoundofsubstance.com
The Sound of Substance is a rock band that started as an idea that brothers Chris and David Sierra would pick up and tinker with every now and then until August of 2009. That August, the brothers met up with multi-platinum, two time Grammy Award winning Steve Fontano. With the encouragement of Fontano, Chris and Dave decided to step up to the plate and breathe life into what they believe they were put here to do. With music as their foundation, the Sierra boys have a vision to bring hope and encouragement to all those who hear their songs and encounter them. Their latest release, completed in Fall of 2009 which is a compilation of songs recorded on their laptop with a spark of hope and a message of love, is already spreading like wildfire to people throughout the globe today. In 2010, The Sound of Substance recruited their youngest brother and guitarist Thomas Sierra who is known for his raging solos and energetic stage presence, also bassist James Brittnacher who boasts thunderous sounds and never misses a beat. This culmination of talent has driven fans to scream for more and promises to make an evening well spent. The Sound of Substance is not scared to be too loud or too soft, too fast or too slow, and won't pass up an opportunity to be daring and take some chances. If you're up for the ride, buckle up and hold on to something, because these guys are going somewhere fast and they want to take you with them!
Dave Thies

I am grateful to be alive… I was born in Houston, TX in July of 1983. I grew up in Houston and started to play guitar, harmonica, and piano in high school.
While in college I started my own record label, Saints & Heroes. Since its humble beginnings in my dorm room I have released seven albums… at least one a year since my freshman year of college. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Music Business and Master’s in Theology. I am blessed to have found a vocation/career that uses both of these degrees.
I have played concerts at big venues like House of Blues and many small intimate house gatherings. Through all these experiences music has been there as a comfort and a medicine. I believe music can heal the heart and give hope.
Ben Walther
As a worship leader in college, he began writing songs that expressed the communal faith of his friends and his own faith as well. With the release of his first album, "Where I Want To Be," Ben hoped to begin a musical journey that would continue the rest of his life. 10 original songs launched a season of traveling, giving Ben and the band a chance to share their story of hope in God's abundant blessings (see John 10:10). For the past few years, Ben has enjoyed a fruitful ministry in Houston, TX, and beyond. In June 2008, Ben released a 6-song EP, a collaborative effort by Robbie Seay of Sparrow Records as well as Matt Maher. This new project has blessed Ben's ministry both as a worship leader and as a songwriter/performer. The most profound blessings in Ben's life, however, are his lovely wife Maria and their four daughters. Like the Virgin Mary, Ben is blessed among women.
Doug Weisbruch
Douglas Weisbruch has been actively involved in music and youth ministry since 1986. Over the last 20 years, he has performed at concerts, rallies, retreats, and liturgies around the country. He picked up his brother’s guitar as a senior in high school and now at age 38, is an accomplished Christian musician with four recordings: Secret Hiding Place (1991) and Blessing (1994), both compilations of original songs. In 1998, Doug produced St. Mark’s Praise -Live Worship Music for Catholics , a live worship CD, highlighting his liturgical work at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Plano, Texas. His most recent release, The Revisiting (2005) is another independent project featuring his own compositions and arrangements.
Since Doug founded Weisbruch Ministries in 1991, he has ministered to numerous audiences and congregations with his acoustic guitar and joyful love for the Lord. He has also worked with well-known Christian musicians such as Tony Melendez, Steve Angrisano, Tom Booth, Crispin, and Jesse Manibusan. Doug and the Keysis Worship Band have been the house band for Godstock since its inception, returning for their 6th appearance at Godstock.
